The Cheetah, the Leopard and the Cat 2002-05-03 I have notice a difference in the hunting styles of our three cats. Penny is the cheetah. The chase is everything. She doesn't even want to catch it. When she does, she sits and looks up at me, 'When are we going to run again?' Kitt is the leopard. He lies in wait and leaps. Bigger and not nearly as graceful, he looks like a dancing bear next to a ballarina when they play together. Sprite, our rescue cat, is a cat. She's been exposed to the real world, and she knows her place in it. She's a small furry animal in a world full of big scary things. She is also probably the only one of the three that has actually had to live by her wits. When she hunts, she's a cat. No delusions of grandeur, no fuss, no muss. Just a cat that's had to hunt to eat. |
