Sunflowerbrellas 2001-06-11 Casualties - One LARGE grasshopper. The snail population seems to be thinning, either becuase of my efforts as exterminator or because it's getting hot. I have discovered a new use for sunflowers (like they need another one). I'm using them for sun umbrellas. Now I have a good excuse to plant more. Some of them are over 7 feet tall, not counting the two feet the pot puts them above ground level. We moved them around so they cast shade in just the right spots at just the right time of day. The plants are happy, they get their sun. I'm happy, I get my shade. Come Fall, I'll cut them down and feed the seeds to the birds. |
