Pruning 2001-03-09 Sat out on the patio last night, drinking sherry, listening to the birds sing, watching the sunset and wandering around pruning the things that have exploded their bounds during the rains. The nastutians have leaves as big as saucers this year. I clipped off the new tender leaves on the nasturtian vines that I trimmed and ate them, savoring the peppery flavor as I worked. The sunset was glorious, mostly because there was sun, and I was there to watch it. Just being outside for a couple of hours has a wonderful positive impact on my mood. If my little patch of dirt can produce all that green and all those flowers, the world can't be all bad. The hummingbirds seem to agree. |
